Factors that are Affected Commercial Egg Prices in Turkey

1 A.K.Ü. Veteriner Fakültesi Hayvancılık İşletme Ekonomisi Anabilim Dalı, ANS Kampusü-AFYONKARAHİSAR - The aim of this study is to examine factors affecting commercial egg prices in Turkey from 1990 to 2004, when inflation was high and economic crisis occurred.

According to current prices, the increase rate of egg prices were only high between 2000-2003, whereas the increase rate of egg prices in other years were the same. According to estimated fixed prices, egg prices were worsened approximately 35%, however, there was not important change in feed prices. But feed prices exceeded the egg prices in general between these years.

Approximate whole import of eggs constituted by reason of breeding and broody henning, it affected the rise in egg prices. Economic crisis in 1994 and 2001 had on effect on the rise in the input costs which had also effect on the rise in egg prices. Keywords : Layer Hen, Price, Inflation, Economic Crisis
