The Effects of Free Range System on Egg Productions and Egg Quality of Brown and White Layer Genotypes
2 Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Zootekni Bölümü - Samsun - This research was conducted to compare the differences between free range and deep-litter systems on white (O1Tx) and brown layers (GxSx) in terms of the production, quality characters and nutritional value of eggs and the weight of some internal organs. While the differences was significantly important in favour of deep litter in terms of %5 and % 50 production weight, shape index, albumen index and Haugh unit production (P<0.05), differences was in favour of free range system in terms of egg yolk yellow tone, the weight of spleen and gizzard (P<0.05).
Comparing white egg layers and brown egg layers for the following characters, while brown layers had advantage in terms of %5 and % 50 production age, egg production hen-housed, egg weight, ratio of laying ground, ratio of dirty eggs, egg`s surface area, egg yolk colour, vitamin A, white layers had advantage in terms of %5 and % 50 production weight, shape index, shell thickness, albumen index and Haugh unit production, lesser blood and meat spot and lower cadmium level, and length of small intestine (P<0.05). There w`ere no differences for the other characters investigated.
