- The research was carried out to determine the egg quality characteristics of white layer pure lines namely Black, Blue, Brown, Maroon and D-229 and their hybrids at the Poultry Research Institute. The research was started when the hens reached 50% egg production age and carried out until the age of 72 weeks. Egg weight, shape index, shell thickness, shell strength, Hough unit, albumen and yolk index and meat - blood spot were determined for each group at 50% randomly selected eggs at 4 weeks intervals. It has been determined that there were significant differences among the groups in terms of egg quality characteristics. As a result of the research, it was determined that Brown × D-229 genotype was superior in terms of egg weight and meat-blood spot, Maroon × D-229 genotype was found superior in terms of other characteristics.
